The Original Bone Pool™ by One Dog One Bone™The first pool designed specifically for dogs, the Bone Pool™ by One Dog One Bone™ set the standard for heavy-duty dog pools when it was introduced in 2005 — and it continues to lead the category today. Unlike flimsy plastic kiddie pools and collapsible vinyl dog pools, the Bone Pool™ is built from high molecular weight polyethylene (HMWPE) — an extremely durable material used in demanding industrial applications such as conveyor wear components and marine dock protection systems. The result is a pool that is chew-resistant, UV-resistant, and engineered to last for years. The material naturally stays cooler in the summer sun, providing dogs with a refreshing cooling and play experience during warm weather. Each pool features a solid brass cap and drain for easy water removal and simple maintenance. Specifications• Dimensions: 66" × 44" × 11" For over 21 years, Bone Pool™ pools have been trusted by dog owners, pet resorts, trainers, working dog programs, and animal facilities around the world. Built to Last. Continental U.S. shipping included. |
Who It Suits
The Bone Pool™ measures 66" × 44" × 11" and holds up to 85 gallons. Its generous footprint comfortably accommodates medium to large dogs, and the 11" wall height is easy for most breeds to step over unassisted.
It is used by individual dog owners, pet resorts, trainers, working dog programs, and animal care facilities worldwide — suitable for single-dog or supervised multi-dog use.
Because the Bone Pool™ is constructed from rigid HMWPE rather than soft vinyl, it does not collapse when dogs jump in or out — addressing one of the most common failure points of soft-sided pools.
Deck Placement & Surface Preparation
The rigid shell holds its shape without an inflatable frame, but requires a flat, level surface for stable, even use.
- Best surfaces: Concrete patio, pavers, or deck boards rated for load. At full capacity, 85 gallons of water weighs approximately 710 lbs — confirm your deck or surface can support this before filling.
- Grass or compacted gravel: Suitable, but check for settling after the first fill and level as needed.
- Avoid: Uneven, sloped, or soft surfaces that could cause the pool to tilt or shift when loaded.
- Drainage clearance: The brass drain sits at the base of the pool. Position the pool where water can flow freely away, or leave clearance beneath to attach a hose.
Safe Use & Supervision
- Always supervise dogs during pool use. Never leave a dog unattended around standing water.
- The rigid HMWPE construction means the pool will not tip or collapse under a dog's weight — dogs can confidently step in and out without destabilizing the pool.
- The 11" wall is accessible for most adult dogs; monitor puppies, senior dogs, or dogs with joint issues for ease of entry and exit.
- Water depth is adjustable — a partial fill is recommended for puppies, small dogs, or dogs being introduced to water for the first time.
- The HMWPE material is chew-resistant, but no pool should be left unsupervised with an active chewer. Inspect the shell periodically for surface wear.
- In hot weather, the material naturally stays cooler than dark plastics, but always provide shade and fresh drinking water alongside pool time.
Cleaning & Winter Storage
Routine cleaning:
- Open the brass drain cap and tip the pool slightly to fully empty.
- Scrub with mild soap and warm water; rinse thoroughly. HMWPE is compatible with standard pet-safe cleaners.
- Allow to air-dry before refilling or storing.
Seasonal & winter storage:
- Drain and dry the pool completely before storing — residual water can freeze and expand against the shell.
- HMWPE tolerates cold temperatures without cracking, but storing indoors (garage or shed) during hard freeze-thaw cycles is recommended for maximum longevity.
- Store upright or flat on a clean surface, away from sharp objects that could scratch the shell.
- The UV-resistant material resists fading and surface degradation from sun exposure, so brief off-season outdoor storage is generally fine — cover with a tarp if left outside.
